Northstar Bank opened its first branch in Bad Axe in February 2001 with 11 employees. In February 2007, Community Bank merged with Northstar Bank to offer additional full-service locations in Akron, Caro and Pigeon.
In October 2013, Northstar Bank and its former sister bank, Seaway Community Bank, with locations in Algonac, Lenox/Richmond, Port Huron and St. Clair, merged to offer an expanded geographic market area and product base.
Our growth continued in December 2013, when our Ann Arbor loan production center converted into a full service branch, and in July 2015, with the opening of our Ubly branch.
Since opening, Northstar Bank has experienced tremendous growth due to the support of its local communities and dedicated staff. Northstar Bank now employs approximately 100 banking professionals.
Northstar Bank is held by Northstar Financial Group, Inc., a state of the art computer and bookkeeping center, which provides services to both Northstar Bank and West Michigan Community Bank.
As of July 2021, we are currently at an asset level of just over $853 million and proud to be rated 4-Stars by BauerFinancial, Inc. for being one of the strongest financial institutions in the nation.
